Underground Outlet

How it works

Underground is a pipe installed beneath the surface of the earth in order to collect and channel surface water underground to a suitable, stable outlet. Underground outlets are often used in terraces, water and sediment control basins, diversions, waterways, and surface drains.

How it helps

  • Reduces surface flow over areas susceptible to high rates of erosion and gully action.
  • Helps stabilize critical areas and contributes to the function of other practices.
  • Improves water quality by reducing sediment and nutrient loss.
